Multiple Sclerosis changes prompt the need for an adaptable tablet

Dear Live Grand:

I’ve lived with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) since my early 50s, and my disease is now affecting my vision. On tough days it even fogs up my thinking. These issues are prompting me to consider a transition to an electronic tablet that will be easier to navigate than what I currently have. A friend suggested a GrandPad since she has one, and I know that she loves it for games and video calls. I’d enjoy both of those features, but I’d also like moderate use of the Internet. Would this tablet work for my needs? – PV

Dear PV:

Multiple Sclerosis is unpredictable, so we applaud you for your proactive approach to the future. The versatile GrandPad would be a great fit.

Regarding your vision, GrandPad’s icons are large and uniquely colored, plus they stay in the same order for easy navigation. All text is large and clear on a well-lit background, and online text can be adjusted for personal preference. The Toolbox app contains a flashlight, a calculator, and a magnifier.

You’d love GrandPad’s Internet app! Here is where you’d have the option of using pre-sets that offer articles, podcasts, and videos focusing on people over 50. You could also explore the Web using the Search option, and your favorite sites could be added by the person you elect as family admin. If you notice your judgment slipping over time, your family admin could limit your online access accordingly.

You’d love the convenient video/audio calls as much as your friend does. When someone from your Contacts called you, you’d see their image and click Answer and you’d be connected. To place a call, you’d simply choose the person’s image from your Contacts and tap Call. This is handy now but could become critical later. Oh, and Zoom calls are easy using the dedicated Zoom app!

Whether you like card games, word games, or memory challenges, you’d find them in GrandPad’s Games app. These games are large, well-lit, and enhanced for color, contrast, and clarity.

GrandPad features streaming radio stations, a proprietary GrandPad Radio station, and access to more than 30 million ad-free songs from a wide variety of musical genres. You could even mix it up in your own Music Collection.

Integral to the GrandPad experience is the white glove customer service. If you had a question about a GrandPad app or function, you’d just tap the HELP icon, and your representative would soon be on the line. This cheerful assistance is always live, and available 24/7, 365 days a year.

With a GrandPad, you could easily view photos and videos uploaded to your Photos app by your family admin. If you like taking your own pictures, you could use either the front or back-facing camera and view them by using your app.

We’re hoping that research will soon find a way to send your MS into remission, PV. Meanwhile, a GrandPad could keep you connected and communicating. This tablet would offer you entertainment, education, and peace of mind.
