Mother’s broken shoulder restricts her movements

Dear Live Grand:

My mom, 86, broke her shoulder, so she’s wearing a clunky cast. While she’s in assisted living and well cared for, I’d feel much better if we could communicate via video calls. It looks like the GrandPad tablet should work for these calls if she could manage with her restricted arm movement. Could this tablet be propped up on a stand, or would she need to hold it? How about games and music? She’s already bored with her limitations. – SL

Dear SL:

Ouch! We’re sorry about your mom’s shoulder. A GrandPad can’t make her heal faster, but this unique tablet could improve her life now as well as long after her shoulder heals.

Propping is easy since the GrandPad screen is large enough to place on a table using the included case that folds into a stand. Additionally, the charging cradle that eliminates the need for tiny cords and ports could prop her GrandPad at an even higher angle.

The apps are large, uniquely colored, and positional, meaning they stay in the same order. Your mom could either tap with her finger or use the included stylus.

The family admin would add the pertinent information of friends and family to her Contacts list. Then, when someone called her, she’d see their image on her screen and tap Answer to connect. If she wanted to call someone, she’d find their image within her Call app and tap Call. Done!

Only the people who have their information added by the family admin could contact her, so spam is eliminated – something we’d all love!

GrandPad’s are loaded with other options that could keep your mom happily entertained. GrandPad’s Music app includes access to more than 30 million songs in a variety of genres. With just one tap, she could build her own Music Collection that could be set to play in the background.

Within the Radio app, there are pre-sets stations like GrandPad Radio that offer music and talk. Then there’s the Photos app! She’d love that because she could view uploaded family photos and videos whenever she wanted, and she could share them with her friends during meals or activities.

The Games app is packed with options like Bridge, Bingo, or Hearts, as well as puzzles like crosswords.

Within the Articles app, she’d find options that would entertain her and provide her with fun tidbits to share with her friends. There’s Cat of the Day, Antiques, Gardening, Health, and even a Joke of the Day. She could build a collection there, too, if she chooses.

GrandPad’s white glove customer service is available with a simple tap on the convenient HELP button. Her own live representative would quickly answer her questions or just chat a bit, and these lovely people are available 24/7, 365 days a year!

GrandPads are made for older adults with challenges, SL. Your mom’s broken shoulder shouldn’t be allowed to keep her from communicating with people she loves or just creating private moments of joy!
